No balcony, and the drying rack fills the living room. What can you do?

LINGCHONG cabinet in a small home laundry area beside a folded drying rack and a clear living-room walkway

AI-generated small-home laundry layout concept; not an installed project.

The rack opens beside the sofa because there is nowhere else for it. A shirt sleeve hangs over the chair, and reaching the window means walking around wet laundry. In a home without a balcony, the washing machine may have a permanent place while drying borrows a different part of the room every day.

Start by choosing where the whole laundry routine should happen. A fixed wash-and-dry area can keep suitable clothes away from the living-room floor. The layout still needs to work when the appliance door is open and someone is carrying a basket.

Look at the room while laundry is in use

Measure the rack with both wings extended. Then look at the route between the sofa, doorway and window. A rack that folds neatly behind a door can occupy much more room when it is holding a real load.

Think about which interruption bothers you most. Perhaps the dining table cannot be used while the rack is out. Perhaps guests have to pass through the laundry to sit down. Choose one of those spaces to keep clear, and plan the laundry position around it.

If a folding or wall-mounted rack already handles your laundry comfortably, moving it to a better position may be enough. An appliance becomes more useful when the same clothes repeatedly occupy the room and you want a permanent place for washing and drying them.

Give the cabinet an actual installation position

The LINGCHONG LC-308 WashDry Cabinet measures 190 cm high, 60 cm wide and 62 cm deep in its single-door reference configuration. It needs a water inlet, drain and suitable electrical supply. It is a connected laundry appliance, so an empty corner alone does not make a suitable location.

Mark the proposed position on the floor before moving furniture. Include the specified 5 cm of rear ventilation space, then allow for the door to open, clothes to be loaded and future service access. Rear clearance is only one part of the installation space.

A laundry corner near existing services may suit the room better than placing the cabinet beside the sofa. Keep the everyday walking route usable. The installation guide covers the reference connections and placement considerations.

Move suitable hanging garments into the cabinet

LC-308 washes garments with water and automatically dispensed, diluted detergent while they are hanging inside. Smart Wash & Dry then dries them in the same cabinet. Those garments do not need to spread across a separate rack between the two stages.

This changes where that part of the laundry sits. Shirts and other compatible hanging garments can have a fixed washing and drying place, while the living room stays available for its usual activities. Match the garments' washing and drying instructions to the chosen programme before loading.

The reference load is eight lightweight garments or four thick garments. That is a garment-count reference, not permission to fill every empty gap. Follow the loading positions in the operating instructions, and split the load when the clothing does not suit one programme or arrangement.

Keep a smaller drying arrangement for other items

A wash-and-dry cabinet has a defined garment scope. Bedding, large household textiles and pieces requiring another method still need their own care route. Shoes, leather garments and valuable mink garments must stay out of the cabinet wash.

Keep the rack for clothing that genuinely needs it. A piece with a flat-drying instruction needs suitable support and a compatible method. Sweaters require LC-308's middle supporting shelf when handled in the cabinet according to its instructions; an ordinary hanging position is not a substitute for that support.

This gives the rack a more specific job. You may be able to fold it away between those loads, depending on the mix of laundry in your home. The cabinet also occupies permanent floor space, so compare the complete arrangements before deciding that either one will fit better.

Make putting clothes away part of the layout

Leave a basket or clear surface for sorted clothing near the laundry area. Keep a few empty hangers where they are easy to reach. Once the programme ends, inspect the garments, including thicker seams, before putting them away.

A cleared section of wardrobe rail helps finish the job. If dry clothes remain in the cabinet because storage is full, the next batch has nowhere to go and the rack tends to reappear beside the sofa.

For a home or apartment project, ask LINGCHONG about the proposed laundry position with a room sketch and the clothes you expect to handle. Plan the services and open-door space together, so the living-room floor you want back remains usable.
